Haryana education minister Rambilas Sharma invited Digambar Jain monk Tarun Sagar to address the Haryana assembly before the beginning of Monsoon session on Friday. The monk, following Digambar sect's custom was completely nude, and spoke about the relationship between religion and politics, Pakistan and female foeticide.

In first of such event organised at the Vidhan Sabha, Sagar was seated on dias above the seats of the Governor, Chief Minister and MLAs.

Delivering his 'Kadve Vachan' in his 40 minutes long speech, he recommended eradication of female foeticide. He said that the imbalance in the male-female ratio in the country is the reason for crimes and rapes, and should be tackled at three levels - political, social and religious. Adhering to that, he suggested that on political front those who do not have daughters should not be allowed to contest elections by government. In society, daughters should not be married in the families who do not have daughters and on religious level, saints should not accept alms from homes where there are no daughters.

He was of the opinion that inspite of living in 21st century, in a society where boys and girls are differentiated is like 14th century.

Equating the relationship between husband and wife to that between politics and religion, he said, “Rajniti par dharam ka ankush zaroori hai. Dharam pati hai, rajneeti patni. Har pati ki yeh duty hoti hai apni patni ko samrakshan de. Har patni ka dharam hota hai ki woh pati ke anushasan ko sweekar kare. Agar rajneeti par dharam ka ankush na ho toh woh magan-mast haathi ki tarah… ho jaati hai" (It is necessary to have religion's control over politics. Religion is like a husband, while politics is wife. It's the duty of every husband to protect his wife and it is the duty of ever wife to accept order's of her husband. If there is no control of religion over politics, then it would be like an elephant out of control.)

Next, he also spoke about politicians having criminal cases and said those 160 MPs against whom cases have been registered should not be allowed to "climb the stairs of Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha”. He believes that Modi government's policy of retirement age for politicians should be followed.

In a piece of advice for Haryana government, he asked for purification of Ganga at Rishikesh, so that ghats of Haridwar would be purified automatically. Taking a cue from there, he asked Dharma to be placed in the assembly. He also said that, though that would led to allegations of saffronisation of politics, but it would rather be cleansing of politics.

Tarun Sagar said that no religion promotes terrorism.

In the wake of recent issues between India and Pakistan, he took potshots at our neigbhouring country. “Humara padosi desh, sab ko maloom hain, atankvaad ko aasan de raha hain….bhasmasur paida kar raha hain… Bharat ko pareshan karne ke liye. Mujhe lagta hain aaj nahi toh kal bhasmasur tayyar kar raha hain apne liye. Ek baar galti kare woh agyan hain, do baar galti kare woh nadaan hain, teen baar galti kare woh shaitan hain aur jo baar baar galti kare woh Pakistan hain. Jo har baar shama kar de, woh Hindustan hain," he said. (Everyone knows that our neighbouring nation is the hub of terrorism, it is creating Bhasmasurs to trouble India. But, I feel that it is creating Bhasmasur for itself. A person who commits a mistake once is ignorant, twice is innocent, thrice is a devil, but who commits mistake again and again is Pakistan. The one who forgives every time is India).”
