After a man was caught on camera brutally stabbing three stray dogs and killing a puppy outside Green Park metro station in south Delhi, police have formed two teams to track him down, police said.

A PCR van received a call on March 15 about three dogs lying in a pool of blood near an exit of the metro station. The team also found the carcass of a puppy at the spot after which all of them were rushed to a veterinary hospital where the puppy was declared brought dead, police said, adding, the three dogs were admitted with serious injuries.

The CCTV footage of the area shows the accused, who was in jacket and shorts, attacking the dogs in a frenzy for around 18 minutes. He stabbed the dogs and then thrashed the puppy before leaving the area, they said. The footage was uploaded on Youtube today.

An FIR has been registered at Hauz Khas police station against the accused under IPC sections 428 and 429 and provisions of Prevention of Cruelty Against Animals Act. The accused has not been identified yet, a senior official said. Residents also informed about similar cases in the area in the past. Police is analysing the CCTV grab and checking if the same man was involved in all such cases, he said.

Initially police had claimed that all four dogs were dead but senior police officials later confirmed that it was only the puppy which had died and three stray dogs were grievously injured and had to undergo a series of surgeries.

Meanwhile, an NGO today announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for anyone who helps identify the accused, police added.
