Vijender Singh had a memorable pro-boxing outing in front of his home crowd at the Thyagaraj Stadium in New Delhi on Saturday as he defeated Kerry Hope in 10 rounds to win the WBO Asia Pacific Super Middleweight Championship title, but things turned sour for Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi as he was booed by the crowd.

Gandhi, who was part of the star-studded audience, had come to watch the much talked about bout of the year sporting a grey T-shirt and denims, but as soon as he walked into the arena, a section of the crowd booed him and then chanted 'Modi, Modi', referring to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The 46-year-old, who sat beside IPL Chairman Rajiv Shukla, had a similar experience when he walked out of the stadium after the end of the title clash. However, he didn't react to the boos and simply smiled back before leaving the arena.
