Watch: Anti-Romeo squad shaves man's head in Shahjahanpur in front of police

Members of one of the many anti-Romeo squads shaved the head of a man in the presence of three constables, who had caught him with a female friend in a public park in Shahjahanpur. 

Although the incident took place last week, the video of the man's head getting shaved went viral on Friday. Senior police officers have since suspended the three constables - Suhail Ahmed, Laiek Ahmed and Sonu Pal have been accused of involvement in the incident. "Prima facie it appears that they were present there and failed to stop those who were shaving the head of the victim. I have ordered their suspension on this ground,” Shahjahanpur SSP, K B Singh told Hindustan Times.

Anti-Romeo squads have increased in Uttar Pradesh since Yogi Adigyanath became the state's chief minister. Calling for law and order, anti-Romeo squads have been doing the rounds in various parts of the state. While people have criticised the move, there are a vast majority in the state who believe that such squads will ensure women are safe.
