National Conference leader Omar Abdullah said on Thursday that his party backed rival PDP in staking claim to form a government in Jammu and Kashmir to save the state from its "current mess" and uncertainty.

Addressing a press conference a day after Governor Satya Pal Malik dissolved the assembly, Abdullah demanded an investigation into his claim that there was horse-trading and the use of money in the attempts towards government formation in the state. The NC leader also dared BJP general secretary Ram Madhav to prove his allegation that the alliance with the PDP was formed at Pakistan's behest."You cannot undermine the sacrifices made by National Conference workers in protecting the sovereignty of this country. He must apologise," Abdullah said.

Speaking further,Omar Abdullah said that their goal was to save Article 35A, and hence NC agreed to offer outside support to the Mehbooba Mufti government. Omar said that NC's agenda was to see true representation regarding Article 35A. Ex-J&K CM recalled how they have been demanding the dissolution of the assembly for so long, but their demand was not accepted.  Abdullah further said that the malfunctioning fax machine managed to slit the throat of democracy. He said that the fax machine seems one-way machine and here should be an investigation on the unique fax machine. He was alluding to the fact that Mehbooba Mufti failed to send fax to the Governor owing to some issues with the fax machine but the official notification regarding the dissolution of the house was circulated.

He further said, " How can Governor say two different parties with differences can't come together? Why didn’t you ask PDP-BJP when they came together?". Ex-J&K CM said that if Governor says money was changing hands, horse trading was being done then Governor should come out in open about on whose behest was this money being spread?

Regarding reason behind the alliance, Omar said, " Our aim was to take out Kashmir from trouble. We left differences and came together to save this state." He also said that Ram Madhav has disrespected 3000 NC workers who have died in the conflict. He challenged senior BJP leader to give proof and not to shoot and scoot.
