Vyapam scam: Advocate KTS Tulsi demands impartial probe

Supreme Court advocate KTS Tulsi on Monday alleged that the rising number of deaths associated with the Vyapam scam is an attempt to save Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and demanded that an impartial probe should be conducted to get to the truth of the matter.

Calling the scam 'a reign of terror', Tulsi said, "I have never seen any case in the world where witness after witness are dying and accused after accused are dying. What is the reason? People are suspicious that may be it is a way of saving the Chief Minister."

"An impartial investigation is needed. Otherwise, people will lose their trust on the proceedings of law. Even the son of the Governor died. Everyone is saying that it is a case of unnatural death. They are suspicious that it might be a case of foul play. I think it is an unfortunate incident and it will be better if any agency outside the state of Madhya Pradesh looks into the matter. Only then will the truth be out," he added.

As per reports, 42 people, including the accused and the witnesses in this case, have died.

The Vyapam Scam involved the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board, which holds exams for positions like medical officers, constables, teachers and auditors for government departments.

Candidates allegedly bribed government officials to ensure that they made it to the list of those who cleared the test.
