Five students - Amit Chadha, Manish Gupta, Vikash Gupta, Raghavendra Bhadauria and Pankaj Bansal - from Madhya Pradesh's Gajra Raja Medical College who are accusedin the Vyapam scam, have written to the President Pranab Mukherjee asking for justice or the permission to die, reports NDTV.

Claiming that they had cleared their names, the students have said that they were being discriminated against by their peers and teachers.  The five of them were among the 2500 accused in the scam.

The students have said in the letter that they cleared the PMT exam which is the entrance test for medical courses in 2010. However after three years, they were named as accused in the case after it was discovered that their photos and signatures in the admit card did not match with the college identity card. They were among 95 others booked in the scam. But they cleared their names after taking fingerprint tests as one of the ways to cheat in the exam was by sending a proxy to write it.

The five students also got permission from High Court to study and the were readmitted to their Gwalior college. They got a stay on the police case against them.

One of the students has said that their are still being seen as impostors and their papers are kept separately. "This is torture... We want justice, or we want permission to die," he added as the four others petitioners agreed with him.

The college authorities maintain that there is no discrimination and they have not got any complaint from the students. "There is no question of discriminating against any student," said the Executive Dean Dr JS Sikarwar.
