Both the accused were deported from Dubai to India and they arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport by 3 am on Thursday and kept at two different locations in Delhi.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday got custodial remand of corporate lobbyist Deepak Talwar and AgustaWestland chopper deal scam accused Rajiv Saxena on Thursday. While Talwar has been sent to seven-day remand by Delhi’s court, Saxena was given four-day custodial remand. The financial investigative agency had asked for an eight-day remand of Saxena, who the ED alleged has first-hand information about how money exchanged hands in the VVIP chopper deal and 14 days for Talwar in the irregular seat-sharing on Air India’s profitable routes with three international airlines cases.
Both the accused were deported from Dubai to India and they arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport by 3 am on Thursday and kept at two different locations in Delhi. Saxena was kept inside MTNL building next to Zakir Hussain college and Talwar at ED office.
They were deported after India cancelled their passports on Wednesday. MEA then informed their counterparts in UAE that the duo passports have been cancelled following which UAE refused to give them permanent residency. Once passports were cancelled, UAE authorities detained them and deportation started.
ED counsel DP Singh said the health issues of Saxena and lobbyist Talwar will be taken care of. Saxena is a co-accused in AgustaWestland chopper case along with Christian Michel, extradited from the UAE last year.
