KANPUR: Voters here can now check their names and respective polling booths on the internet with the district electorate going online from March 23.

The electorate lists would be handed over to political parties and contestants on March 23 and it would also be available on the internet from the same date, district Election Officer Anurag Srivastava said.

With this, the district has become the second one after Ghaziabad to get an online electoral list for the forthcoming UP Assembly elections.

A total of 28,16,508 voters will exercise their franchise in 2,662 polling booths at 939 polling centres set up across the district, Srivastava said, adding tight security arrangements have been made for the purpose.

He said a team of 14 central observers have arrived in the city. Besides, 104 companies of para military forces will reach here for conducting free and fair polls.
