Ousted AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran on Monday said that his aunt and party general secretary VK Sasikala has applied for a 15-day parole to visit her ailing husband M.Natarajan.

Sasikala is currently serving a four-year sentence for corruption in Bengaluru. Dhinakaran expressed hope that his aunt would get ordinary leave. “We are not sure of the duration of parole as the jail authorities would decide on that,” he said.

Natarajan is currently in hospital and is expected to undergo a liver transplant. The 74-year-old, who has suffered multiple organ failure, has reportedly asked to see his wife.

Sasikala, a long-time aide of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, succeeded her as AIADMK’s interim general secretary in December last year. Her conviction in a disproportionate assets case scuttled her attempts to become CM in February. Sasikala has been married for 33 years to Natarajan, a former government public relations officer, who introduced her to Jayalalithaa.
