AIADMK Deputy General secretary and VK Sasikala's nephew TTV Dinakaran has been booked by the Delhi Police's Crime Branch in a bribery case.

Sukesh Chadrashekhar, the mediator, allegedly told Dinakaran that AIADMK's 'Two leaves' symbol would go to the Sasikala camp if Rs 60 crore were paid to him.

Last month, the Election Commission of India (ECI) had frozen the symbol ahead of the RK Nagar bypoll.

Dinakaran was reportedly in direct touch with the accused and will be sent a summons, asking him to join the probe.

Chadrashekhar who was arrested from Hyatt hotel on Sunday night, has been booked under  U/s IPC 170 & 120b, section 8 of prevention of corruption act.

Meanwhile, TTV Dinakaran dismissed the allegations terming it as false propaganda. He also denied any connection with the arrested person in New Delhi.

"If the Delhi police issues a summon, I will face it legally. All these false propaganda is being done to destroy AIADMK," he told reporters in Chennai before leaving to Bengaluru to meet jailed AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala.

The EC last week cancelled the by-elections in Chennai's RK Nagar constituency, after cash-for-votes allegations surfaced. The decision came after Income Tax raids in Chennai found money was distributed to voters.

The by-elections in RK Nagar became necessary after the death of former chief minister J. Jayalalithaa, who represented it for two terms. The AIADMK party, which is now divided into two groups, has been witnessing political turmoil after the demise of Jayalalithaa.

Earlier, both the factions also staked claim over the election symbol, with the Sasikala camp moving the Election Commission to challenge the use of the party symbol by the Panneerselvam-led camp.

However, the Election Commission decided to freeze the election symbol and allotted two new symbols to both the factions.
