The 47-year-old, who is the son of Sasikala’s late brother Dr Vinodagan, had gone to Thiruvidaimarudhur temple near Thanjavur when he complained of chest pain.

Mahadevan was the state general secretary of Amma Peravai before he was removed from the party, along with other family members, by late party chief and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa a few years ago. He had kept away from party affairs since then.
