Vishwakarma Puja, also known as Vishwakarma Jayanta is widely celebrated festival in the eastern part of the country. It will be celebrated on September 17. The day is celebrated in honour of the Hindu god of architecture Vishwakarma and is called Devashilpi.

Vishwakarma is considered the Divine Architect .The day falls on the last day of the Bengali month Bhadra. It marks the beginning of the sixth month in the Hindu Solar Calendar. The festival is widely celebrated in Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Karnataka, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Tripura.

2017 Vishwakarma Puja Date and Time

The sunrise timing on the day is at 6:17 AM and the sunset time is at 6:24 PM. According to Drik Panchang, the Sankranti moment is at 00:54 on September 17th. The puja is widely celebrated by craftsmen, artisans, smiths, mechanics, industrial and factory workers, who seek his blessings to increase productivity in their work and also inspire them to create and innovate.

According to the scriptures, Vishwakarma, the son of Lord Brahma created among other things, missiles and flying chariots and Lord Indra’s sacred weapon Vajra. Among his architectural wonders are Sone ki Lanka, Dwarka, Hastinapur and Indraprastha.
