Vinod Kumar Binny joins BJP, accuses AAP of using Anna Hazare for political gains

Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Vinod Kumar Binny on Sunday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and accused his former party of using social activist Anna Hazare for political gains. 

"I was part of Anna Hazare's movement against corruption. I didn't know that some opportunist people will dupe me and the people of Delhi. They made false promises and used a great man like Anna for their gains," Binny said, as he accepted the BJP scarf presented to him by the party's Delhi unit chief Satish Upadhyay. "I joined them, thinking that I will serve people. I didn't know that they will fool honest people of Delhi," he added.

Meanwhile, former AAP leader Shazia Ilmi, who had also joined the BJP recently, claimed that the AAP has a habit of making false accusations. "They have accused Satish Upadhyay ji. It is their habit to make false accusations, creating false evidences and playing with reputation of people based on that," Ilmi said.

Earlier on Saturday, the Election Commission had sent a notice to AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal for violating the Model Code of Conduct during a press conference where he launched an attack on the BJP and its Delhi unit chief, Satish Upadhyay.  Kejriwal had accused Upadhyay of was part of a company that supplies electricity meters to the power distribution company, BSES. The Delhi BJP president had responded with a defamation notice, and accused Kejriwal of "running a factory of lies".
