Criticising Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray for not tendering apology for the controversial cartoon published in Sena daily mouthpiece -- Saamana, leader of opposition in the state assembly Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, on Wednesday, said that perhaps Thackeray does not know that tendering apology never belittles anyone.

Speaking to media at Gandhi Bhavan, which is Congress state unit headquarters at Nariman Point, Vikhe-Patil said that since Saamana is Sena mouthpiece, it was the demand of Maratha community that Thackeray should render an apology. He said Thackeray instead chose to satisfy the Maratha community with an apology by the cartoonist Srinivas Prabhudesai, which is not acceptable.

Vikhe-Patil said that it was the same Uddhav Thackeray, who refused to hand over Matoshree bungalow, the house of Late Balasaheb Thackeray for converting it into a memorial after Balasaheb. He said that Shiv Sena through Saamana has insulted not only Maratha women, but also martyrs from police department and army, and at the same time, it has criticized those protesting against the controversial cartoon.
