Former Delhi BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Goel, who had been keeping a low profile, has revived interest in the affairs of the party's state unit, after party chief Amit Shah is believed to have asked him to be "active" for the upcoming Assembly elections.

Goel has been holding meetings with several people every day and hoardings carrying his pictures have started appearing at various places in the national capital. "Since Shah asked Goel to be active in Delhi's Assembly elections in a recent meeting with state party leaders, he has started meetings with RWAs and put up hoardings in various places to apparently show his activeness to central party leaders," said a senior BJP leader.

Hoardings carrying photos of Goel, Shah and Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay, and appealing to people to join the party were seen outside the Delhi BJP office today. According to senior leaders in Delhi BJP, Goel, by doing these things, wanted to project himself as "chief ministerial" candidate again in the forthcoming elections. In October last year, BJP had named Harsh Vardhan as the party's chief ministerial candidate for the then Assembly elections in Delhi despite opposition by Goel who had staked claim for the post.
