Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Rajesh Awasthi has announced a Rs 50 lakh reward to anyone who slashes off Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan’s tongue, after the latter’s controversial remarks about the Indian Army.

Awasthi said that people in the country are living in peace due to the Army which is keeping a day and night vigil on borders and thwarting all attempts by Pakistan to destablise India. “People like Azam Khan lower the morale of the Indian Army by issuing such derogatory statements against the troops. Such traitors should not be allowed to stay in the country for a minute,” he pointed.

Awasthi, who is VHP’s Shahjahanpur unit district secretary, added that he would will give a cash reward of Rs 50 lakh to anyone who would slash his tongue and bring it to him.

Meanwhile, former Samajwadi Party MP and ex General Secretary Amar Singh demanded to lodge a sedition case against Azam Khan. “I don’t know why people are tolerating him. He should be put behind bars for issuing such statement that too at a time when our soldiers were laying their lives at borders for the country,” he said.

Khan had allegedly said that women terrorists preferred to chop off private parts of Indian soldiers after killing them to seek revenge of their rape. Later, Azam had retracted his statements and blamed media misquoting him.
