The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has made Rohingya refugees and cow protection as point of conversation as part of its annul mass contact programme with the members of Parliament.

VHP has demanded that the Centre should create a ministry for cow protection.  Speaking to WION, Ras Bihari, the Central Joint Secretary of VHP said, “We passed this resolution on 24th of June and under the programme MPs of Parliament cutting across political parties would be contacted.”

Later this mass contact programme will be taken to all state assemblies in the country and subsequently it will turn into a mass contact programme where interaction with civil society actors will take place. “This mass contact programme will have both state and civil society actors. Ultimately, it has to reach people in various parts of the country,” said Ras Bihari.

The mass contact programme which is an annual affair started on 18th July and would last till 9th of August which is roughly co terminus with the Monsoon Session of the Parliament. “Our demand is that Rohingyas should be deported from India. Whether it is Jammu and Kashmir or North East, they cannot be allowed to stay back,” said Ras Bihari.

BJP has already taken a strong position on the Rohingya issue and Assam has under gone the process of counting citizens and identifying illegal immigrants in the state. The last big political issue which VHP spearheaded was construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya which provided political programme to BJP and ensured its rise as a strong national party leading to swearing in of first BJP led government in 1996.
