After sorting out issues with the RSS, state BJP president Vasundhara Raje went about mending the fences with former state BJP presidents, which included heavyweights like Lalit Kishore Chaturvedi and Om Prakash Mathur, once Raje baiters. Sources said that the meeting mostly concentrated on working out a strategy and building a poll plank for launching an effective campaign against the ruling Congress government.
“Raje was personally taking feedback from each of the former presidents. She was keen on knowing their take on the situation in different pockets of the state,” a party office bearer said. Although, a former president demanded to know why no election committee could be formed in the state to decide on the ticket distribution when in other states the formal set up is already in place. Sources said there was no conclusive response to the question.
Former BJP president and Sangh strongman Bhanwar Lal Sharma’s written suggestions were read out by BJP vice-president Arun Chaturvedi. Others like Gulab Chand Kataria deliberated on the impact of and observations on Suraaj Sankalp Yatra in state.
