Vashundhara Raje government focuses on improving service delivery

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vashundhara Raje today said her government was focusing on delivery of quality education, health care services along with creation of economic infrastructure.

"The magnitude of challenge in the public health care system is immense," Raje said while addessing the gathering at the inauguration ceremony of LVP and SVP expansion of Ahlcon Parenterals India Ltd, at Bhiwadi.

"With only one doctor per 2,000 population, there is an immediate need to add more capacity. Thus, the government was taking steps to open seven more medical colleges that would increase the present capacity of 1,400 MBBS seats in the state to 2,100, a CMO spokesman said quoting her.

Raje said it was a matter of pride that high-tech life saving items like parenterals were being manufacured in India. Partnerships in such high-tech areas would help the domestic health care sector build capacties and also have a bearing on local skills, she said.

Assuring investors, the Chief Minister said the government would support any investment in medical education and manufacturing. She said that the government seeks sharing of expertise so that the citizens of the state can lead a better life.

Raje said, "The government has a major role to play in disease prevention and prophylaxis. Life style and non- communicable diseases are a drain on resources, and it is important to educate masses on the prevention of diseases." Raje said it was important that Rajasthan positioned itself as a good investment destination and in order to do so the state government is preparing policies to make the process of setting up business in the state simpler.

The CM said that one extremely important area of intervention for her government was to improve employability of the youth and imparting them skills in various trade so that they were readily picked-up by modern businesses.

"We have set a target of creating 1.5 million employment opportunities in 5 years. I believe that this unit shall undoubtedly help create remunerative livelihoods," she said.
