Varanasi: Man kills wife over suspicion of illicit affair

A woman tourist guide was stabbed to death in Varanasi on Thursday allegedly by her husband who suspected her fidelity, police said.

The woman was on Thursday morning stabbed to death by her husband Shailendra Tripathi, who too worked as a tourist guide, Circle Officer (Cant) Vinod Kumar Singh said.

Both, the accused and victim, were in their 30s, he said. Shailendra allegedly suspected her wife of having an illicit affair. Enraged over this, he met her in front of Mahabodhi Temple this morning. There, they had a heated exchange of arguments after which he stabbed her with a sharp knife, said Singh. Shailendra has been arrested, he added.
