Restrictions were imposed in the sensitive Old City and the Internet was suspended in the entire South Kashmir on Sunday, while its bandwidth was reduced in Srinagar to prevent protests against Saturday’s killing of two youths in the Army’s firing.

The Valley observed a shutdown against the killings with shops and business establishments remaining closed and traffic off the roads. The call for a Kashmir bandh was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) of separatists.

The district administration of Srinagar has imposed restrictions on the movement of people in areas falling under the police stations of Safa Kadal, Khanyar, Nowhatta, Rainawari and MR Gunj. Partial restrictions were imposed in areas falling under the police stations of Maisuma and Kral Khud in Civil Lines area of Srinagar city.
