In order to facilitate arrangements for the upcoming 'Ardh Kumbh' in Haridwar, the Uttarakhand government will send a proposal to the Centre, requesting it for a package of Rs 55 crore, according to an official statement.
This was decided during a meeting held in Dehradun on Friday under chief secretary N Ravi Shankar and a proposal will be soon sent to the centre, the release said.
The sum will be used for security arrangements like setting up of Kumbh control room, purchasing equipment for surveillance and bomb disposal squad, communication system, for parking and free transport facility provided to the visitors, it said.
Part of the amount will be used for development work in rural areas and modernisation of police force, the statement said. The Ardh Kumbh will be held in Haridwar next year.
