Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Thursday alleged that the Centre lost the case in the Uttarakhand High Court because of poor argumentation of the Attorney General and the Solicitor General, demanding that new appointments should be made for the two posts.

"We must appeal against this in the Supreme Court because this is a judgement that has far reaching implications," Swamy told ANI.

"But more importantly I felt, after reading the arguments, that the Attorney General and the Solicitor General did not present the arguments forcefully. I think we lost because of poor argumentation and not because we had a poor case. I think a new Attorney General and a Solicitor General should be appointed," he added.

The Uttarakhand High Court earlier on Thursday quashed the President's Rule in the state and ordered floor test in the assembly on April 29. Harish Rawat's lawyer K.C Kaushik said the High Court has restored the former chief minister's position as on March 27 when the President's Rule was imposed.

The High Court had observed that it would be a travesty of justice if the Centre revokes its order imposing President's Rule in the state, and allows someone else to form a government before it gives the verdict. The court's comments came after the Centre's counsel said it was not in a position to give an assurance that the government would consider putting on hold the recall of its order imposing President's Rule for a week.
