Uttarakhand: CM's medical insurance scheme to be launched on Republic Day

The Chief Minister's medical insurance scheme, providing cashless treatment to around 85 lakh people will be launched in the state of Uttarakhand on the eve of Republic Day, a senior official said.

Under the scheme, one person can avail cashless treatment up to Rs 1.70 lakh on production of a health card which will be issued to beneficiaries, Om Prakash, Principal Secretary, Medical health and family welfare department said.

Only non-government employees are entitled to avail the benefits of this scheme, he said. The treatment for the 600 listed diseases or ailments under the scheme can be availed at state government-run hospitals or at the empanelled hospitals including those outside the state, the official said.

The fare incurred by the patients while travelling to these hospitals for treatment will be reimbursed by the state government, Prakash added.
