In a yet another horrific case, a journalist in Uttar Pradesh's Pilibhit district was allegedly assaulted for his report on illegal land deals.

A television journalist Haidar Khan has alleged that he was tied to bike, dragged and beaten up for land grab expose.

According to reports, police have registered an FIR and started investigation in the case. The journalist is in hospital in critical condition.

Few days ago, a journalist Jagendra Singh was murdered allegedly on the orders of Samajwadi Party Minister Ram Murti Verma for Facebook posts.

​Meanwhile, even as the state government stubbornly refuses to take any action whatsoever against its minister of state charged with a journalist's murder, the scribe's family and supporters have started an indefinite dharna demanding a CBI probe.

There are reports of the family being offered money and also being intimidated to keep silent. The family members are demanding a CBI probe into the incident, immediate arrest of the minister and dismissal of the policemen involved in the horrific crime.
