Uttar Pradesh: Case registered against youth for tricking girls into marriage

A case has been registered against a youth accused of luring girls on Facebook and tricking them into marriage, police said today.

The accused has been identified as Kalim, a resident of Dhakka village in Amroha. He had created an account on social networking website, Facebook, using alias Pawan Chaudhary, police said.

The incident came to light after a girl here ran away from home on September 22 and was found by the police on Monday.

During investigation it was revealed that the girl was in touch with the accused through Facebook. The girl said she had married the accused in an Arya Samaj temple in Delhi, Inquiry Officer Vikas Yadav said.

He said the girls from Kanpur and Dehradun who had also been duped by the accused, are in touch with the police. One of the girls told them that he had also married a woman from Spain and allegedly looted her of Rs 20 lakh, he added.

Police said a case has been registered against Kalim and they are on a lookout for him.
