Uttar Pradesh board orders schools to open Facebook and Twitter accounts

UP schools affiliated to the state board need to update their academic and extracurricular activities on social networking platforms.

It is now mandatory for all 600 aided, non-aided, and government intermediate colleges affiliated to the Department of Secondary Education to open Facebook and Twitter accounts to keep parents,students, and authorities about the activities going on

The decision was made after a department survey threw light on slumping situation of education in the state. Schools in Allahabad, Lucknow, Varanasi, Agra, Aligarh, Gorakhpur and Azamgarh divisions were found to be imparting poor quality of education.
