An eight-year-old boy, Shami died on Sunday, allegedly in a celebratory firing after local elections results were announced here.

The Samajwadi Party workers were celebrating the win of candidate Nafisa in the elections when the incident took place.

"A child aged around eight was going on a rickshaw. He was hit by a bullet and died," Circle Officer of Kairana NP Singh said.

 "It is possible that he was hit by bullet fired in celebratory firing. We are investigating the matter," he added.
