Hailing the recent developments in Gujarat, Modi urged the people of the state to cast their vote in his favour and give him an opportunity to serve the state for the next five years.
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the UPA Government is more bothered about allowing foreign markets to establish a presence in India rather than about ensuring development of the country.
Addressing an election rally in Dakor, Modi said, "I was quite surprised to know that the issue of foreign direct investment (FDI) is being debated in the parliament but the government is not ready to discuss about the steps to increase the production of essential commodities.
"The government is not concerned about the development of industries but it is more concerned about the foreign supermarkets. They are least bothered about the loss that will be incurred by our retailers by allowing foreign direct investment in the retail sector," said Modi
Hailing the recent developments in Gujarat, Modi urged the people of the state to cast their vote in his favour and give him an opportunity to serve the state for the next five years.
"My Gujarat knows me better. You know about my work and the pace at which it is being done. You can judge me by seeing the development, which has taken place in the state. You are aware of my weaknesses and good qualities. You should give me an opportunity to serve the state for another five years," Modi stated.
Modi, who is contesting from Ahmedabad's Maninagar seat, will lock horns with Congress candidate Shweta Bhatt.
Shweta Bhatt is the wife of suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt, who is best known for alleging that the Chief Minister had asked the state police to go slow against rioters in the 2002 Gujarat riots.
