Welcoming the steps being taken by the Modi and Yogi governments for the modernization of madarsas, the UP Shia Central Waqf  Board now wants hoisting of tricolour and reciting national anthem be made mandatory in the Islamic institutions across country.

In yet another letter written to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and  UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Board Chairman Waseem Rizvi demanded that reciting of national anthem be made mandatory in all madarsas along with hoisting of tricolour every morning to inculcate feeling of nationalism among the students studying there.

“Both comes as a fundamental rights of all citizens of the country under Article 51 (A) of the Indian Constitution. Thus, they be made mandatory in all madarsas across country to bring them at par with other schools,” he pointed in the letter. The Shia Board also suggested that the Central government must develop a mechanism to check and verify foreign funding of Islamic educational institutions to put an effective check on funding by terror organisations.

“Foreign students seeking admissions in madarsas should be given admissions only after proper verification and thorough checking of their personal credentials to curb entry of anti-nationals and those owing allegiance of terror groups,” he further suggested. Earlier, the Board Chairman had shot off a letter to the PM and the CM demanding scrapping of current madarsa education system as it was producing more terrorists than civil servants, doctors engineers etc from the community members.

In reply to his demand, the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had said that closing madarsas was not a solution but their modernization was the need of the hour to provide quality education to Muslim youth in the country.
