Uttar Pradesh Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav has equated his cabinet colleague Azam Khan to Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, saying his name too would be remembered for his efforts in establishing the Jauhar University.

Yadav, while praising Azam for his efforts in stablishing the Jauhar varsity, said, "He (Azam) has followed the path of Sir Syed Ahmad who established Aligarh Muslim University and like him Azam's name too would be remembered."

Yadav, who was the chief guest at the Jauhar remembrance Day celebrations in Rampur on Thursday said, "We had followed (Azam) Khan Sahib's all the directives and doing that at present and will continue to do that in future as well."

Azam Khan, the lifetime chancellor of the Jauhar University, on the occasion of 'Yaad-e-Jauhar' reminded the sacrifices of Muslims in the freedom struggle and claimed that in "Jalian-wala-Bagh massacre 40 % of the martyrs were Muslims and it were we (Muslims) who won the Kargil war."

"We expect and deserve honorable status in society but how one shall feel when we are placed in the category of Dawood Ibrahim," he said alluding to Shiv Sena's recent allegation that Azam Khan was more dangerous than Dawood.

He also criticised US President Barack Obama, "We (Muslims) shall always be feeling ashamed for Obama's deleting Hussain from his name."

"After oath taking ceremony Barack Hussain Obama became Barack Obama ...Obama could not keep 'Hussain' intact with him which hurts Muslims immensely," Azam said.
