The Yogi Adityanath government on Tuesday decided to give Rs 50,000 petrol coupons to legislators of Uttar Pradesh by curtailing Rs 1 lakh given for travel from Railways.

The decision to this effect was taken at the 8th Cabinet meeting of the Yogi government. Spokesperson Dr Siddharth Nath Singh said that about 2,500 present and former members of both Houses of the State Legislature will benefit from the decision.

The Cabinet, however, reduced Railways coupons to legislators from Rs 1 lakhs to Rs 50,000. "The main aim is to encourage them to visit their respective areas more often to serve people in their constituencies," he added.

The Yogi cabinet has also decided to construct Kailash Mansarovar Bhawan at a cost of Rs 50 crore in Lucknow. The Lucknow Nagar Nigam has already agreed to make available land for the Bhawan free of cost. To be constructed on sprawling 8,125 square metres of land, the Bhawan will provide accommodation to about 500 Kailash Mansarovar travellers at one time.

The Cabinet also decided to increase pension to Divyangs from Rs 300 to 500. About 8.83 lakhs divyangs in Uttar Pradesh will also be benefitted from the decision. Cabinet also sanctioned Rs 3.36 lakh for the construction of a Guest House for judges in Varanasi.
