Ahead of the sixth phase of Uttar Pradesh state assembly election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday dared Samajwadi party (SP), Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) to do whatever they could to defeat Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).

Addressing a rally in Mau, Modi said, "Do whatever possible to defeat BJP, but don't ruin the future of Uttar Pradesh."
Terming the SP-Congress alliance a sinking ship, Modi asked people to punish Congress, SP and BSP for neglecting the state for years.
"Our alliance partners will be made part of BJP government in UP when our party comes to power," he said.
The Prime Minister also claimed that Nehru had set up a committee for eastern UP's development but the report kept lying for 50 years and we have started work on it.
On Sunday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav hit back at the Prime Minister for his 'Diwali, Ramzan bhed-bhav' remark and said that it was his party who provided the maximum amount of electricity to every region in their tenure.
While ridiculing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mann Ki Baat' radio address, Akhilesh said people were eager to hear some 'Kaam Ki Baat' from him and dared the former to have a debate on the development work done by the Samajwadi Party.
Earlier, PM Modi had slammed the Congress and the Samajwadi Party for misgovernance during a rally in Gonda. Invoking Lord Shiva on the occasion of Maha Shivratri he said, "People, with their third eye, can see what is good for them and what is bad. The poorest of the poor can detect the truth."
Polling is taking place for 51 assembly constituencies spread over 11 districts of the state.
