Last year, in a major initiative to strengthen the institutional capacity of Indian Railways, a Centre of Excellence (COE) was established at Indian Railways Institute of Electrical Engineering (IRIEEN) in Nashik in collaboration with UNDP.

"The COE acts as resource centre for technical support and advice on energy efficiency technologies and measures, dissemination of the information to the staff and to stakeholders.
