A Delhi court on Saturday recorded the testimonies of two police officials as prosecution witnesses in the Uber cab rape case in which a 25-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by the driver last month. Additional Sessions Judge Kaveri Baweja recorded the statements of woman sub-inspector Alma Minj, the initial investigating officer of the case, and sub-inspector Sandeep, who had seized 32-year-old Shiv Kumar Yadav's car in which the alleged incident took place.

The woman official, in her examination-in-chief by Special Public Prosecutor Atul Shrivastava, said at around 1.30 AM on Decemebr 6, 2014 after receiving an information about the incident, she had gone to the house of the victim in Inderlok here and recorded her statement. She said she had noticed injuries on the victim's body and she along with other officials had taken her to Bara Hindu Rao Hospital for her medical examination and the woman's mother had also gone with them.

On the same day, the victim took the cops to Vasant Vihar near Priya cinema hall from where she had boarded the taxi, the official said, adding that on December 7, 2014, after his arrest the accused was brought at Sarai Rohilla Police Station by some cops. She added that when she was interrogating the accused, she received information from senior officials that further probe would be conducted by sub inspector Renu and she handed over Yadav's custody and other documents to her.

During her cross examination by Yadav's advocate Aalok Dwivedi, the official said the victim was unable to tell the exact location of incident and she had only stated that it took place in the taxi. Her cross-examination remained inconclusive and would continue on January 27. The court had earlier recorded statements of 21 witnesses including the victim who had identified Yadav as the one who had raped her on the night of December 5, 2014 when she had hired the cab and was returning home in west Delhi's Inderlok.

The woman, who has deposed that Yadav had sexually assulated her, has stood firm on her stand during her examination. The court has framed charges against Yadav under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for alleged offences of endangering a woman's life while raping her, kidnapping with an intent to compel her for marriage, criminally intimidating and causing hurt.
