Two West Bengal Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) quit the Congress Party on Tuesday to join the Trinamool Congress (TMC) after meeting TMC general secretary Mukul Roy.

Humayun Kabir and Krishnendu Chowdhury, both MLAs from Rejinagar, Murshidabad and 51-English Bazar, Malda constituencies respectively, forwarded their resignations to the West Bengal assembly speaker Biman Banerjee and announced that they have joined the TMC

"Our district president (Congress) and Member of Parliament Abu Hashim Khan Chowdhury ignored me with untouchable and stepmother mentality. Since long, I have suffered. So I decided to quit the Congress Party," said Krishnendu Chowdhury

Humayun Kabir made a similar allegation of negligence against the State Congress leadership and said: "I have already got in touch with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and held talks with TMC's all India General Secretary Mukul Roy."

Both Kabir and Chowdhury are likely to be inducted in the state cabinet during next week's reshuffle.
