Two terrorists eliminated in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district

One AK rifle and one pistol were recovered from the spot after the two terrorists were gunned down by the security forces in the Melhora area.

Security forces on Tuesday eliminated two terrorists in an operation in the Melhora area of the Shopian district, the army said.

"One more terrorist killed during the operation in Melhora area of Shopian district. Total two terrorists have been eliminated so far. One AK rifle and one pistol recovered. The operation has concluded," said Indian Army.

One AK rifle and one pistol were recovered from the spot.

Earlier today, Army's Northern Command had reported the killing of one terrorist in the Melhora area.

On Monday, a Jammu & Kashmir police inspector was killed in a terror attack on him when he was returning home after offering prayer at a local mosque in Anantnag district of south Kashmir. 

Identified as Inspector Mohammad Ashraf, he was shot at Kenalwan area of the district following which he was rushed to a local hospital for treatment where according to reports he was declared dead on arrival. Immediately after the incident, a team of security forces cordoned off the area to nab terrorists.  

This was the second attack by terrorists on the day. Earlier in the morning, a CRPF man was injured after terrorists opened fire at a joint team of security forces near the Gangoo area of South Kashmir's Pulwama district.
