The Indian army mounted a fierce retaliatory attack against Pakistan on Wednesday night and killed two Pakistan soldiers along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Bhimber Gali sector.

The retaliatory action was launched after the Pakistan Army pounded Indian posts and civilian areas continuously for the last two days. Two soldiers were injured in the latest Pakistan assault, sources said.

Pakistani media, quoting Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a media wing of Pakistan Army, admitted that two of their soldiers were killed in the Indian firing, identifying the slain soldiers as Sepoy Muneer Chohan and Sepoy Amir Hussain.

On Thursday morning, Pakistan again provoked India and resorted to heavy shelling on the forward posts and civilian areas. Pakistan is using heavy-calibre long range weapons including 120 mm mortars to inflict maximum damage deep in the civilian areas.

"Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of small arms, automatics and mortars from 8.45 am in BG sector along the Line of Control (LC). Indian Army is retaliating strongly and effectively," said Lieutenant Colonel Devender Anand, defence spokesman at Jammu.

Hours later Pakistani army extended the shelling to new areas, including Nowshera, Kalal and Sunderbani along the LoC in Rajouri district.

For the last 56 hours Pakistan has violated ceasefire nine times in different sectors along the LoC in Rajouri and Poonch districts. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kahsmir government has decided to close 72 schools in the vulnerable areas of LoC till March 5 as a precautionary measure.
