Though today we are celebrating International Women's Day, rape and molestation continue to rule the roost in Thane. In two separate incidents a five-year-old girl was molested, and in the second incident a 15-year-old girl was raped by a men who were their neighbors.
The first incident of rape took place at Rawlinagar, Bhiwandi and second incident at Thankarpada , Kalyan
In the first incident a class nine student whose both the parents are working, was raped by her neighbour on the knife point. The first incident took place in the first week of February.
The victim used to come from home from school in the afternoon and even the accused used to come home for lunch. When he saw that she was alone, he forcibly entered the house and raped her. He then threatened her that if she would tell about it to anyone he will kill her and her parents.
The girl got scared and kept quiet for a few days and taking advantage of the girl's silence the accused raped again. The third time when the accused raped her, the girl went to her friends place and asked for her mother's help. The mother when she came to know about the whole situation, she decided to lodge a police complaint, who was later arrested.
Investigation officer of Shantinagar police station UK Ingale said, "The girl is in class nine. She was threaten many times and as she was scared and could not talk about the incident to her parents, her friend helped out her with the issue.
There should be more awareness about the issue, normally people who are illiterate do not lodge complaint as they get scared if society comes to know about the issue, they will be ridiculed. We are here to help, and unless and until anyone comes to lodge a complaint we cannot do anything. The acussed Abzoor aka Salman baba, 45, is under arrest and was produced in court yesterday".
Ingale aslo added, "The accused has been charged with section 376 (rape ) 506 (Punishment for Criminal Intimidation) and The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 of the Indian Penal Code.
In the second case a five-year-old girl who was playing with her sister in front of her house was molested in broad daylight on March 7.The incident took place at around when the victim was taken by the neighbour, who told her that he will buy chocolates for her and asked her to come with him to take the round of the area. However the accused, Ajay Mangal Rajbhar,19, did not informed her parents and only informed the victims' elder sister who a few years elder to the victim.
After few hours when the victim did not returned the family started searching. After sometime Rajbhar came with the girl and told them that they were near the local temple. After the girl went home, she told her parents that Rajbhar had undressed her and had touched her inappropriately. The parents then lodged a complaint at Bazarpeth police station.
The Bazarpeth police station officials informed, "We have arrested the culprit soon after the complaint. The accused is 19-year-old and we are further investigating the case. As he was victim's neighbour, the parents did not stop the accused when he was taking their daughter out".
The accused is charged with sections 363 (Punishment for Kidnapping), 354 (Assault or Criminal Force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 of the Indian Penal Code.
