Two cops injured in grenade attack on police station

Police said a grenade was thrown on the police station in Pulwama on Thursday morning, which exploded with big bang.

Terrorists lobbed a powerful grenade on the police station in Pulwama, injuring two cops even as police averted a major attack when they arrested a terrorist from Frisal village of Kulgam district in South Kashmir.

Police said a grenade was thrown on the police station in Pulwama on Thursday morning, which exploded with big bang. The injured cops were immediately shifted to hospital for treatment.

"A grenade incident reported from police station Pulwama. Two police officials sustained injuries (sic)", tweeted Kashmir Zone Police.

Security forces cordoned off the area and launched search operation to nab the terrorists responsible for the incident. However the terrorists managed to flee from the spot after committing the crime.

In a separate incident, police averted a major terrorist attack when they arrested a member of banned outfit who were planning to carry out an attack.

"Based on reliable information that the members of Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba, have planned to carry out attacks on security personnel to snatch weapon, Police Post Frisal, arrested one of the accused Roshan Zameer Bhat," said the police .

A case was registered in Yaripora Police Station and investigation set into motion. "During initial investigation, the accused disclosed that he has kept the illegally acquired explosive material at his residence. During search, 01 Chinese Grenade was recovered. Further investigation is going on," he said.
