Two communities clash in Agra's Nai Mandi

Tense situation prevailed on Monday in Nai Mandi in the city after people from two communities clashed here during a religious procession, police said. The administration has deployed Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and appealed to the people to maintain peace.

The incident started on Sunday afternoon when during the procession, some flag got entangled in power supply cable and caused power outage, police said. Soon, people from both communities resorted to heated argument over the issue. But, police was called in after that and the situation got under control, police said.

The situation became tense again on Monday morning, and the police force had to be deployed again, as people from the two communities resorted to brick-batting, they said. The district magistrate, DIG, SSP, SP (City) soon reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The PAC has been deployed in the area, police said.
