Anti Corruption bureau on Thursday has filed two seperate cases against class one officer and class two officers of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for having disappropriation assets.
One case has been registered with Dattawadi police station against Ramesh Shelar (45) who is Chief security officer at PMC while other is registered with Yerawada police station against Mustaq Shaikh (51) who is working as Deputy engineer squad of PMC and his wife Afroz. Both the cases have been registered under the relevant sections of Indian Penal Code comprises of Prevention of Corruption Act and also under the relevant sections of Indian Penal Code. No arrest have been made yet.
A team of 12 police officers from ACB had carried a search operations at Shelar house in Ashok Park in Suncity road, Hingane Khurd for inspecting the house articles and collection other land documents.
Shelar has joint PMC in 1995 as Junior Engineer, then as Deputy Municipal commissioner and and now he is serving as Class one officer as Chief security officers. From the duration of 1995 to December 2013, have found Rs 64 lakh disappropriate moveable and immovable assests. ACB had got this tip-off of Shelar from annoymous letters received by them since 2013. The person had gained information about Shelar under RTI.
Superintendent of Police (ACB) Sarang Avhad said, "in the search operation we have got Rs 6.55 lakh cash from house and have found more than eight flats and plots in his and his wife name. At present our team is scrutinizing the five different banks accounts of Shelar. Shelar owning flats in Hinge khurd area, Warje Malwadi there are two flats both are of 800 square feets and on in Loni kalbor area. Two shops in Phaltan and Wadgoan Bhudruk. And a Bungalow at Wadgoan Bhudruk, a plot in Shirur."
He added, "Apart from it, we have also came cross that he have a hostel situated in Warje Malwadi area which consist of 38 rooms of which six are owned under his wife name Sharada. Two four-wheelers and four two-wheelers are also in the list. More than 43.21% misappropriation assests have been found in Shelar's name."
Officer speaking to dna anonymity ground said, "We have got some clues that Shelar misused his power while renderning his service as he is using parking area in Hingane Khurd is being used on commerical purpose. We have got some clues about he had also used his money in builder lobby."
Shaikh, Deputy engineer squad of PMC who was arrested by ACB in April 29 accepting cash Rs 7,000 from a construction firm for ensuring permission granted road-digging for laying down a new electric connection.
Inspector (ACB) Shailesh Sanke said, "After ACB had arrested Shaikh red handed accepting bribe from a man. During investigation, it was revealed that he had joined PMC in January 1986 and in December 2013. In this span of duration he is owning flat and shop in posh area in Kalyaninagar area. From him at present we have got Rs 39.71 lakh movable and immovable assests."
Anti Corruption bureau Pune unit is not only putting curb on bribe cases but also keeping an eye on the disappropriate assets last year there were three cases in which total disappropriate assets of three and this year in five months the ACB has registered eight cases.
As per the statistics of ACB last year in 2013 a total of three cases were registered which include one politician and two government officers and from the total of Rs 1.10 crores disappropriation assets which consist of movable and immovable property. And this year in five months the ACB has registered eight cases all are government employee and total of Rs 3.50 crores disappropirate assets have come ahead.
Superintendent of Police (ACB) Sarang Avhad said, "This year, most of the cases od disappropirate assests cases are registered against the government officers working as engineer in PMC, Irrigation department, two policemen, Deputy commissioner sale tax department. During the investigation and scrutinising such disappropirate assests span was more than five years of working and in some of the case the span is 10 years."
