Indian author Chetan Bhagat has disclosed the name and release date of his next book slated to hit bookshelves in October this year. Titled 'Half Girlfriend', the book can also be pre-ordered exclusively on Flipkart.
Bhagat also posted a video which outlines the plot in his new book. The storyline follows the usual path of Bhagat's earlier novels; the trysts and tribulations, heartbreak and achievements of people living in middle-class India. In addition, the video also focuses on the conflict between vernacular languages and English, a topic particularly relevant in the wake of the recent CSAT controversy.
However, the author's latest announcement gave plenty of fodder for jokes on Twitter, making #HalfGirlfriend one of the top trending topics in India. You may love or diss him, but Bhagat seems to have managed to create the desired buzz for his next book and who knows, maybe even a "blockbuster" movie from it.
Take a look at some of the reactions the book's title evoked on Twitter:

Chetan Bhagat is the most popular writer. Honey Singh is the most popular singer. Salman is the most popular actor. India, next superpower.

Chetan Bhagat's new book already sounds fake. No girl named Riya would ever want to be friends with a guy named Madhav.
