Updated : Dec 03, 2019, 12:10 PM IST
The Royal Swedish couple King Carl Gustaf Folke Hubertus and Queen Silvia Renate Sommerlath are on their second visit to India and this time they are winning the internet. Reason? Their humble action. The royal couple carried their own handbags which won the hearts of netizens.
Netizens were left impressed by the humble nature of the royals. Being a royalty it is expected that a staff member will carry around their belongings, but the royals preferred to do it themselves.
The Royal Swedish couple is in India for a five-day visit and met President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was received by Member of Parliament Babul Supriyo at the New Delhi airport.
King Carl and Queen Silvia both traveled to India in the national air carrier Air India AI168 from Stockholm. Their pictures at the airport were tweeted by Air India's Twitter handle and went viral immediately.

Wow carrying his own luggage. No vip business. When do we learn from them and shed the babu culture?

Netizens also praised royals for flying commercial instead of taking private jets.
Inspiring to see a king travel by a commercial service and that too of another country's airline. In these times of economic slowdown can India's leaders not demonstrate the same frugality?

This is the second state visit to India by the Swedish royal couple. The first was in 1993.
It is the fourth high-level exchange between Sweden and India since 2015 when former President Pranab Mukherjee was on a historic first state visit to Sweden. In 2016, Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven visited India and in 2018 PM Modi visited Sweden.
