Till 2014, politicians of Andhra-Rayalaseema & Telangana were not on the same page. The divide was right in the middle on the regional lines. But as times and circumstances change, politics too changes.

The latest bonhomie between Telangana's TRS (Telangana Rashtra Samithi) and Andhra Pradesh-based YSRCP (Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party) is beginning of yet another interesting alliance.

The latest buzzword in both the Telugu speaking states is Telangana Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao's "Return Gift" jibe to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party president Nara Chandrababu Naidu. The jibe came after TRS won the Telangana Assembly polls on in December.

Chandrababu's TDP had formed "Mahakutami" (Grand Alliance) with arch political rival Indian National Congress and some smaller parties. During the election campaigning, both Chandrababu Naidu and Rahul Gandhi criticised KCR and TRS heavily. KCR took it personally and politically.

Once the results showed he was the undisputed leader in Telangana, KCR vowed to 'return the favour' to Naidu in Andhra Pradesh and called Rahul Gandhi a 'buffoon'.

KCR, who showed little or no interest in Andhra Pradesh politics after the state was divided, will no directly challenge Chandrababu by supporting YS Jagan's YSRCP. KCR, who is trying to build his own 'Federal Front' comprising of non-Congress and non-BJP regional parties, is using or helping YS Jagan Reddy to target Naidu.

Today's first formal meeting between TRS delegation led by party working president and KCR's son KTRama Rao and YSRCP delegation led by party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy at latter's residence in Hyderabad is the beginning of the "Return Gift".

At the two-hour meeting, both the sides held initial discussions on how TRS can help YSRCP in forthcoming Assembly & Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh to be held this year apart from discussing collaboration on Federal Front.

This is interesting because TRS ally in Telangana and YS Jaganmohan Reddy's friend Asaduddin Owaisi of AIMIM had already declared in his inimitable style saying "Chandrudu.... (Chandrababu Naidu) I am coming to Andhra Pradesh to help my friend YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Beware.."

While both YS Jagan and KTR didn't give any quotable quotes after the meeting, the one important information disclosed was that Telangana Chief Minister KCR will meet YS Jagan soon in Vijayawada to take things to next level.

Now, KCR taking the battle to Chandrababu's turf in Andhra Pradesh will surely produce some fireworks. KCR is known for sharp mind as well as sharp tongue and it now remains to be seen what kind of "Return Gift" will he give to his friend turned foe Chandrababu Naidu in the coming days.
