Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat today handed cheques worth Rs 12 lakh to the kin of Lance Naik Jeet Bahadur Thapa who was martyred in Jammu and Kashmir last month.
Accompanied by MLAs Vinod Chamoli and Ganesh Joshi, Trivendra, who met the martyred soldier's relatives at his residence in Banjarawala, handed a cheque of Rs 4 lakh to his mother Savitri Devi and two cheques of Rs 6 lakh and Rs 2 lakh to his wife Rani Thapa.
The Chief Minister also handed the martyr's wife an appointment letter for a job and announced that the road leading to Banjarawala will be named after him.
