Smarting from BJP's blistering attack over different issues, ruling Trinamool Congress on Saturday decided to launch a series of programmes from Sunday to counter the charges.

TMC secretary general Partha Chatterjee accused BJP of trying to spread "canards" and create "unrest" wherever it held meetings in a bid to come to power in West Bengal. "But given the traditions and the culture of the state, their (BJP'S) efforts will not succeed ... We have decided to counter the BJP's propaganda," Chatterjee, who is also the state minister for education told reporters here.

Chatterjee's comments were made on a day that saw the two parties clash at Parui in Birbhum district, which has emerged as a place of frequent face-offs between them.

Stating that people of West Bengal will not accept promoting of communal politics in the state, he said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had yesterday spoken of the danger from "danga (riot) gurus".

He said TMC's youth wing would hold a rally at Behala in the city to counter BJP's campaign in which party MP Abhishek Banerjee and other leaders including him would participate.

Trinamool Youth Congress would organise another rally on December one near Shahid Minar in the heart of the city in which the all the top leaders of the party would be present. A rally would be organised against Babri Masjid demolition on December 6.
