Amid speculation of a rift between TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee and party leader Mukul Roy, the party leadership on Friday accused his son and party MLA Subhrangshu Roy of apparently breaching discipline by making certain remarks against the party.

While Trinamool Congress leadership did not rule out disciplinary action by the party against Subhrangshu, a party legislator from Bijpur constituency in West Bengal's North 24 paraganas district, the latter said if the party supremo felt that he had acted against the party he will resign.

"On the face of it, it seems Bijpur MLA (Subhrangshu Roy) breached party's discipline. We will scrutinise this issue further," TMC Secretary General Partha Chatterjee told a press conference here.

"No one will be spared if any intent of anti-party activity is found," Chatterjee said not ruling out disciplinary action by the party against Subhrangshu who became the party MLA in 2011 assembly polls winning from Bijpur seat.

"We'll scrutinise the media bytes of Bijpur MLA.

Disciplinary Committee will meet again after 72 hours," Chatterjee, who is a member of the disciplinary committee that met today to discuss the issue, said.

"We'll not tolerate any anti-party activities," Chatterjee said.

"It has come to the notice of the Disciplinary Committee that Bijpur MLA made some comments in electronic media," Chatterjee said.

Subhrangshu commented that before the recent Bongaon Lok Sabha election, all MP, MLAs were present at a meeting where he was not given any responsibility.

"Kalyani Vidhan Sabha (an assembly segment which is part of Bongaon Lok Sabha in North 24 paraganas district) is not my constituency. As a result I do not know whether that responsibility is mine or not," he told local tv channels today.

He added that the party must also investigate how they lost in some areas of assembly segments of Lok Sabha constituencies like Barrackpore, Barasat, Serampore and South Kolkata during the last Lok Sabha polls.
