Trinamool Congress described as a "flop show" the CPI(M)'s rally at the start of the Left party's five-day plenum today, claiming it had poor attendance. "Today it was a flop show. All the leaders who spoke were frustrated. They have lost connection with the people," TMC secretary-general Partha Chatterjee told reporters here.

Claiming that the CPI(M)'s meeting was "devoid of crowd", he said none of the speakers at the Brigade Parade Ground here could speak for more than five minutes. "How can the party, which could not do anything when it was in power for 34 years, now suddenly say 'we will do it'?" Chatterjee wondered, alleging that if the Left Front returns to power "democracy will be in trouble".

"It is funny that those who killed democracy are now talking about it...It was the Left which led the state into a death trap," the TMC leader said.
